The Geelong Netball Club held their Geelong Cougars presentation night this week, and a couple of South Barwon stars managed to take home some awards.
Ellen Doyle took home the Under 19s Best and Fairest award by four votes. The defender has made herself a mainstay of the SBFNC A Grade defence, and carried that form into Cougars matches.
Caitie Kennedy also took home the Cougars Emma McVilly Award. Below is a summary of the award and of Caitie’s season from the Cougars coaching staff.
The Geelong Netball Club would like to congratulate South Barwon’s Caitie Kennedy on being awarded the Emma McVilly Award for the 2018 season. The following is a summary of the Coaching Group’s feedback.
Caitie is an incredibly hardworking and motivated individual. When given the opportunity to be in this program she took every chance to ask questions and improve both her on-court presence and game smarts. As a result, everything that she has achieved throughout her time in the program has come from her own diligence and determination to better herself.
Her work ethic this year has been exceptional The efforts to push herself to her limits every single training session have been a stand-out quality along with her self-evaluating and dissection of every game she plays.
Her hunger to consume constructive feedback and translate that to development on court has shown a great maturity and unlocked the potential that all the coaches see in her as a player. When she has faith in her own ability she can also become a great on-court leader.
It has been such a pleasure to see her grow in confidence and if she continues to uphold these values we can see a bright future ahead of her.
Well done girls!
